Katy Perry called in to U.K. radio show Hits Radio Breakfast on Friday (July 10) to reveal her latest pregnancy cravings, dish on her new single “Smile” and more.
“I am waddling like a duck,” the star confessed about the uncomfortable stage she’s reached in her first pregnancy. “It’s fine actually, but I’m breathing heavily — I’m a full-on mouth breather — and yeah, it’s loud and obnoxious. And oh my god, I just eat so much flavored ice. It’s like I went from respect to ‘Put all the ice. In my mouth. Right now.'”
The pop singer also opened up about how her upcoming LP “feels parallel in some ways to the darkness that we’re all going through right now” amid the global coronavirus pandemic. “The record is really about overcoming,” she said. “The whole record is called Smile because it is about getting my smile back, which is the smallest expression.”
Perry then offered some carefully-worded thoughts about fellow superstar Kanye West’s recent announcement that he’s running for president against Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
“I think what we’ve learned, looking back, is that the presidential job is best suited for someone with experience, and that is a pro in their field. And I think we have seen and learned from experience that when we don’t have pros in position that it can get a little wild,” she opined, before clarifying, “Listen, I love Kanye. He is amazing. I just love him as an artist. And I think he’s an incredible disruptor as an artist, and a conversation-maker as an artist and that’s what I love the most about him.”
