Justin Timberlake made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular, a gesture highlighting their long-standing friendship, despite the recent public controversy surrounding Timberlake’s DWI incident. In September, the “Cry Me a River” singer addressed his plea deal following a DWI charge on Long Island. Timberlake pled guilty to driving while ability impaired (DWAI), a lesser charge, leading to the dismissal of the DWI charge.

He was fined $500, along with a $260 surcharge, and required to complete 25 hours of community service at a nonprofit of his choice within a year. Additionally, he agreed to create a public safety announcement, which he recorded right after his court appearance.

“Many of you have probably been covering me for a lot of my life, and as you may know, I try to hold myself to a very high standard, for myself. And this was not that. I found myself in a position where I could have made a different decision,” Timberlake said at the time, according to CBS News. “And so what I’d like to say to everyone watching and listening, even if you’ve had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car,” Timberlake continued. “There are so many alternatives. Call a friend. Take an Uber. There are many travel apps. Still, take a taxi. This is a mistake that I’ve made, but I’m hoping whoever’s watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. I know that I certainly have. And like I said, even one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car.”

Alongside his sold-out tour, Timberlake’s appearance on the show saw him performing the duet “You’ll Be There” from Fallon’s new Holiday Seasoning album. In the music video, Fallon experiences heartbreak after receiving a text from Timberlake, canceling their usual winter lodge trip.

As Fallon flips through a scrapbook of their winter adventures, viewers are transported to a snowy scene where Fallon and Timberlake reunite and reminisce about their friendship, leading to a “bro day.” The two enjoy a snowball fight, sledding, and playing their ukuleles.
