Jennie is making waves with her debut solo album, Ruby, achieving significant milestones both in the U.S. and internationally. As previously reported, this album marks the first full-length solo project for the BLACKPINK member and features high-profile collaborations with artists like Childish Gambino and Doechii.
Released on March 7 through Columbia and Odd Atelier, Ruby debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart, with 56,000 equivalent album units sold in its first week. Of that, around 29,000 units came from SEA (streaming equivalent units), amounting to just under 40 million on-demand streams, according to Billboard. Actual album sales reached 26,500 copies.
In terms of physical sales, Ruby offered fans a range of CD variants and boxed set editions, as well as two downloadable versions. While many of these options remain available, the more exclusive versions—featuring a signed CD and Ruby-themed sweatshirt—have already sold out. Ahead of the album’s release, the Hollywood Reporter reported that Ruby had amassed more than 450,000 pre-orders worldwide, according to a statement from Columbia.
The album also made an impressive debut in the global market, reaching the top 10 in countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, South Korea, New Zealand, and the U.K. By Monday, HitsDailyDouble reported that Ruby had sold over a million copies worldwide during its first week. While it wasn’t immediately clear if this number referred to streaming, physical sales, or a combination of both (similar to the data used by Billboard and Luminate in the U.S.), there’s no doubt that Jennie had a stellar first week.
After performances at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and Radio City Music Hall in New York, Jennie will wrap up her solo debut celebrations with the third and final Ruby Experience stop at the Inspire Arena in Seoul. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is set to embark on their own tour this summer.
