New Zealand-born producer Jawsh 685 scored his first No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 with his Jason Derulo- and BTS-assisted hit “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” (chart dated Oct. 17).

The 17-year-old hitmaker also topped the Billboard Global 200 chart this week. His viral hit has taken him all over the world by way of the Culture Dance TikTok challenge, which he told Billboard earlier this month had generated approximately 55 million videos on the platform.

“Just to start off , just wanna thank God for the blessing and opportunity to make this happen for me , @jasonderulo & @bts.bighitofficial,” he wrote on Instagram today (Oct. 12) when the news broke. “Also want to thank my team Columbia in the US for the support and faith they’ve had in my work ! Thank you to my Management team for the endless effort and support always ! Thank you to my Familia & my Usos yo ! ain’t none w out em and a BIG fat thank you to every supporter worldwide ! Much alofas , keep it styláhh.”

He later posted a lengthy video on his Instagram Story about how believing in yourself, no matter where you come from, can take you straight to the top.

“This actually blows my mind to be a U.S. No. 1… It just show you all the kids you can do it, from anywhere, any street you’re from, anywhere. You can do it. Just believe in yourself,” he said in the video recording. “Me and Jason, we worked on the song, we did it. We worked along BTS as well, and it was a big honor to work for these big celebs and all that.”
