Kyla Hemmelgarn – FIONN
Folk-pop twin duo Fionn is premiering the video for “Robert,” a swelling tale of first love and the radical heartbreak that comes with it, exclusively via Billboard today (Aug. 14).
Sisters Alanna and Brianne Finn-Morris may only be nineteen, but their achingly honest lyrics and well-balanced harmonies are undeniably seasoned, a product of singing together most of their lives.
On “Robert,” their voices intertwine in the cosmic fusion of twin telepathy, backed by lush acoustic arrangements and an old world Celtic sound.
“‘Robert’ is an honest and personal portrayal of my first love. It was a painful experience,” Brianne tells Billboard. “I knew from the beginning of the relationship it wouldn’t last, due to distance and our very different paths.”
The video begins as the young romance blooms — through daytime fog and moonlit kisses, on a sunset beach, and of course, feeding each other sushi. But the dream evaporates mid-song as Brianne crashes from the heartbreak of love’s end.
“Alanna and I wanted the video to portray the haunting feeling after a breakup, everything is a reminder of that person, and it feels like you have woken from an unforgettable dream, back into a bleak existence,” Brianne adds.
