Halsey pulled double duty on Saturday Night Live last night (Feb. 9), hosting as well as performing two songs as the show’s musical guest. And while she’s not the first performer to bring a unique set piece with her, she’s likely the first to decorate it herself.
During her performance of “Eastside,” she crouched on a giant canvas and painted an upside-down portrait of a woman’s face while simultaneously singing, finishing the piece of art by the end of the song.
Halsey (whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane) also raised a few eyebrows with her performance of “Without Me” earlier in the show. As she sang the single, which she recently revealed is about her breakup with rapper G-Eazy, a backdrop with the words “Sorry Ashley, I cheated” on it appeared behind her.
