We all need an escape from reality sometimes, and in her new video, Halsey is taking us on the escape of a lifetime.
On Tuesday (Oct. 8), Halsey unveiled her new video for “Graveyard,” complete with ferris wheels, tilt-a-whirls, aquariums and more. Directed by Anton Tammi, the clip opens with the star sitting on her bed, sketching a picture of a young woman. As her pad begins to glow, the drawing comes to life in the form of co-star Syndey Sweeney, as the two are transported to a magical amusement park.
As the video continues, the two run around the park, trying out the different rides and games, flirting with one another as they go. Eventually, Halsey follows her mysterious girlfriend to an aquarium, where the girl disappears, and the singer is left in a daylit, closed-down, gray carnival alone. She eventually “wakes up” back on her bed, looking at a toy ferris wheel, wondering whether it was all simply a dream.
This isn’t the first video this year where Halsey featured an aquarium in her work — for her video for “Clementine,” the star spent much of the video doing an interprative dance with her brother, Sevian, through a similar-looking aquatic museum.
