Halsey Celebrates Her 26th Birthday With Nostalgic ‘929’ Music Video

Halsey really was born at 9:29 a.m. on “9/29,” according to the track from her third album Manic. And she celebrates her 26th birthday (Sept. 29) with the song’s official music video, which takes a trip down memory lane and blows out the candles every 9/29 along the way.

The touching featurette travels back in time from the comfort of a childhood bedroom, where the walls transform into screens that project Halsey’s home videos, which also play from vintage TV sets. The singer-songwriter trades a cheap apartment and the Eastside, which she also references in a collaboration with Benny Blanco and Khalid of the same name, for bigger venues, as fans vicariously live through the different stages of her life. And the lights from her sold-out shows illuminate just like the candles that once topped many birthday cakes.

“Honoring the tradition of presents for you on my birthday. here’s a special music video for ‘929’ you guys have made me who I am today,” the pop star wrote on social media.

Halsey also released the expanded version of Manic, which was the first RIAA-certified album of 2020 that attained gold and platinum status in Canada and the U.S. The 11 additional songs include two exclusive tracks, “wipe your tears” and “I’m Not Mad,” her “Be Kind” collab with Marshmello, two “Without Me” remixes featuring Juice WRLD and by Illenium, and six stripped and acoustic tracks.
