Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani finally got engaged in October after five years of dating, and their proposal story is equally as cute as their relationship itself.
Stefani appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday (Dec. 16), where she chatted with her fellow Voice coach about the moment she found the ring, admitting that she had no idea.
“In fact, I was trying to get out of going to Oklahoma because it was getting too complicated with COVID and the family,” the “Hollaback Girl” singer told Clarkson. “I was like, ‘I think we should just cancel the trip.’ It was one of those. Then we got it together and we ended up going. [Our whole family] was all there.”
Turns out, the country crooner was hiding a ring “in the compartment on the door of my truck for about a week,” and nobody knew.
Shelton asked for Stefani’s dad’s permission before popping the question, which surprised Clarkson. “He’s so old-fashioned!” she exclaimed. “He talked to your dad first.”
On the big day, Shelton asked his soon-to-be fiancée to grab a fire starter for him from the cabinet, where she ended up finding a ring in a box. “I was like, ‘What? Are you serious?'” she recalled excitedly, noting that they didn’t end up catching the moment on video.
