Blake Shelton’s fans may not remember that the country superstar once had a mullet, but Gwen Stefani is here to make sure those days are not forgotten.
Stefani shared a throwback pic of her beau on Instagram late Thursday night (Sept. 19), featuring a young Blake wearing a flannel shirt (with rolled up sleeves, of course) and jeans, rocking an oh-so-80s mullet. “wish I would’ve met u sooner,” Stefani captioned the black-and-white shot.
Though Shelton hasn’t commented on the photo himself, his Instagram profile photo features a picture of his mullet, so it seems he’s pretty proud of the ‘do he once sported. But as one commenter pointed out, Stefani is still a pretty lucky woman: “Gurl, you got him in his prime. He looks way better now!!!!”
The lovebirds — who have been together for four years — will reunite on The Voice starting on Monday (Sept. 23), when Stefani returns to her big red chair for her fourth season as a coach. (Stefani will replace Adam Levine for Season 17, the first season Levine will miss since the series’ beginning in 2011.) Stefani recently shared a preview for the new season, which teases that there will be plenty of playful banter between the couple. Maybe Blake will bring the mullet back to make things extra fun for Gwen.
