Gracie Abrams recently gave fans a preview of upcoming music on TikTok, where Olivia Rodrigo showed her enthusiasm in the comments.
The “That’s So True” singer shared a video where her face is mostly out of view while she listens to a demo, with a friend dancing in the background. On the track, Abrams sings, “It’s violent how I need you.”
In response, Rodrigo commented, “hell yeah.”
Not long after, Abrams uploaded another TikTok of herself in a car listening to the same demo, hinting further at a possible new release. Her last official release was The Secret of Us deluxe edition in October, which included the Billboard-charting track “That’s So True.”
Abrams and the “Drivers License” singer have supported each other for years. In 2022, Abrams joined Rodrigo on the Sour Tour. In an April Billboard interview, Abrams said about Rodrigo, “She gave me such a shot, opening for her … I adore her with my whole heart for forever and ever.”
At that time, Rodrigo also told Billboard, “Gracie has such a singular voice when it comes to songwriting.”
“I think it’s rare to be so young and already have developed your very own lane,” she added. “You can hear a song and instantly know if it’s a Gracie Abrams song even if she wasn’t singing it. That is so special and a real testament to her talent and influence.”
Rodrigo’s last music release came earlier, with the March 2024 deluxe version of Guts. The edition added tracks like “Obsessed,” “Girl I’ve Always Been,” “Scared of My Guitar,” “Stranger” and “So American,” some of which she performed at the Gov Ball in New York City on June 7.
