Finneas unveiled his new single “Angel” on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music on Tuesday (June 11).
“I bought a house to live in/ But you’re the home I’m missin’,” the 21-year-old artist sings on the track’s second verse. “Nothing good lasts forever/ But nights with you are better so/ Go slow.”
The ballad opens with just piano and Finneas’ vocals as he professes his feelings for his love, who he calls “an angel in disguise.” Finneas — who is currently dating YouTuber Claudia Sulewski — says he wrote the sweet love song while backstage on tour with his sister, Billie Eilish, in November.
“I made myself a cup of coffee and sat down at a piano and wrote the whole thing in an hour and played it for the first time that night,” he recalls. “Love has always been the most important thing to me and the thing by which my life is guided. Falling in love with someone and feeling so in awe of them that you wonder if they’re even real is what I wanted to say with this one.”
The track follows Finneas’ “I Lost a Friend” released in early May.
