Dua Lipa and Sir Elton John are ready to go breaking our cold hearts wide open with their new collaboration, “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix).”
On Wednesday (Aug. 11), the superstars announced their new collaboration would come out on Friday, Aug. 13. John has mentored Pnau, the Australian dance music trio consisting of Nick Littlemore, Peter Mayes and Sam Littlemore, for years, and they previously worked together on the 2012 remix album Good Morning to the Night, a collection of songs made out of mixing samples of John’s early songs. The set debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart.
“I’m fizzing with excitment!!!! @eltonjohn i love you and i’m so happy this is finally coming out into the world,” Lipa wrote on her Instagram Story, followed by an array of heart emojis, while sharing artwork of the animated singers.
“Dua, I adore you, and it has been an incredible experience making this together. I can’t wait for you all to hear it!” John wrote underneath his Instagram post, which shared a snippet of “Cold Heart.” “Cold, cold heart. Hard done by you. Some things looking better baby. Just passin’ through,” the Rocket Man sings the interpolation of his ’80s hit “Sacrifice.”
The two previously joined forces in March during his annual Oscar viewing party, where Lipa and John took turns duetting with each other’s songs, including his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “Bennie and the Jets” and her Future Nostalgia deep cut “Love Again.” John was also one of the VIP guest stars on Lipa’s Studio 2054 livestream last year.
On the other hand, Lipa’s lyrics on “Cold Heart” interpolate the English musician’s legendary smash “Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be a Long, Long Time).” “And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time/ ‘Til touchdown brings me ’round again to find,” she sings in her extended teaser of the song that she posted on Twitter.
