Electronic music producers often feel lured into the world of film scores. Giorgio Moroder, Daft Punk, Junkie XL, Flying Lotus, Mr. Oizo and many others have tried their hands at the cinematic, and now deadmau5 joins their ranks. The Canadian composed the original film score for Netflix’s forthcoming Polar, an adaptation of Victor Santos’ Polar: Came From the Cold, an action noir graphic novel published by Dark Horse.
Polar tells the story of a retired assassin who suddenly finds himself the victim of a hit. He must fight the younger generation to keep his life. The trailer looks to be all the big bang you’d expect in such a gritty tale, and its set to deadmau5’s recent Lights collaboration “Drama Free.”
The full Polar soundtrack will be released on deadmau5’s mau5trap records on Jan. 25, concurrently with the release of the film on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
