Katy Perry and Daddy Yankee added a pop of color to the 2019 American Idol season finale Sunday night (May 19) with a vibrant performance.
During the finale, where 18-year-old Laine Hardy was crowned season 17’s winner, the Puerto Rican reggaeton singer and pop songstress performed the Spanglish remix of Yankee’s “Con Calma” for the first time.
In true Katy fashion — and honoring her viral “wig” moment on Idol — Perry kicked off the presentation rocking a huge wig and a colorful orange fringe outfit. “Tonight’s #AmericanIdol finale is not just WIG – it’s 76 wigs (and a little bit of fringe),” she noted on Instagram moments before their presentation.
Rocking out a neon outfit, the “Big Boss” took the stage with a group of dancers, belting out the catchy chorus. Both Yankee and Katy finished off their presentation by flaunting their reggaeton-dancing skills on the Idol stage.
Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma” is a remake of Snow’s 1993 No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Informer.” On April 19, Yankee announced the Spanglish remix featuring Katy Perry.
