Charlie Puth has unleashed his latest single. “I Warned Myself” arrived on Wednesday (Aug. 21) alongside an intense music video.
In the visual, directed by Brendan Vaughan, Puth serves up plenty of somber glances as he sings about an intoxicating relationship. “You mess with my heart/ Now you’re the reason why/ Warned myself that I shouldn’t play with fire/ I can tell that I’ll do it one more time,” he croons.
Puth previously shared the song’s artwork, a black-and-white close-up shot of his face, in an announcement. The “Attention” singer then promoted a countdown heavily and shared some behind-the-scenes footage with producer Benny Blanco on his Instagram story.
“I Warned Myself” is Puth’s first new release since his 2018 album Voicenotes. The singer-songwriter recently hopped on a remix of 5 Second of Summer’s “Easier,” which he co-wrote.
Last week, Puth also shared that he is “putting out three songs.” “I Warned Myself” is the first in the set.
