After weeks of cryptic billboard campaigns across the country, Chappell Roan has officially confirmed that her new single, “The Giver,” will drop on March 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
The singer shared the news on her social media, revealing that she co-wrote the song with producer and longtime collaborator Dan Nigro. “We’ve never done a country song and I have such a special place in my heart for country music,” she explained. “I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bon fires, grocery stores and karaoke bars. Many people have asked if this means I’m making a country album??? My answer is.. hmm right now I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun and The Giver is my take on cuntry xoxo may the classic country divas lead their genre, I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for yall.”
Roan first introduced “The Giver” on Saturday Night Live in November 2024, giving a sneak peek of the country-inspired track and hinting that its release was on the way. She kept up the mystery with a series of billboards over the past few weeks that displayed a hotline number, where fans could hear snippets of the song.
This will be Roan’s first new single since “Good Luck, Babe!” dropped in April 2024. That release followed the success of her 2023 debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which produced several hits throughout the year. “Good Luck, Babe!” earned multiple Grammy nominations, and Roan ultimately won the coveted Best New Artist award.
