Bruno Mars continues to set new streaming records, becoming the first artist to surpass 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Although Mars hasn’t released a solo album since 2016’s 24K Magic, he achieved this milestone due to his successful run of collaborative singles. His song “Die With a Smile,” a mid-tempo duet with Lady Gaga, has garnered nearly 1.7 billion streams on Spotify since its release in August 2024, making it his ninth number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and securing the top spot for months after its debut.
In October, he maintained his momentum with his collaboration “Apt.” with Rosé, which quickly surpassed one billion streams and reached No. 5 on the Hot 100. The achievement of 150 million listeners comes right after the release of his new track, “Fat Juicy & Wet,” a collaboration with Sexyy Red. In the music video for the song, Mars brings together his recent collaborators, including Gaga and Rosé, to celebrate the success.
Currently the top artist on Spotify, Mars is gearing up for the Grammy Awards this Sunday, where he is nominated alongside Gaga for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Additionally, Mars and Rosé recently claimed the title of the best-selling song in the U.S. and reached 12 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart, marking the first time a K-pop song has achieved this feat.
Although Mars has taken nearly a decade to release his next solo album, he released a joint album with Anderson .Paak, An Evening With Silk Sonic, in 2021. Their hit single “Leave the Door Open” earned them four Grammy awards, including Record and Song of the Year.
