Blackpink member Lisa experienced some nerves while making her acting debut in the new season of HBO’s The White Lotus. The K-pop star shared with Variety on the red carpet that she envisions herself taking on an action movie in the future.
Although she enjoyed connecting with her castmates during the White Lotus filming in Thailand, she also dealt with anxiety about her first significant acting role. Variety caught up with Lisa on Monday evening at the The White Lotus Season 3 premiere at Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
“I don’t know what to feel right now. I’m just so excited. I can’t wait for all of you guys to watch this show,” Lisa told Variety’s Marc Malkin.
Her first acting experience turned out to be a positive one.
“It is my first acting [experience] so I don’t know what to expect on set,” she admitted, but she appreciated the support from everyone around her. “Everybody just being so supportive helped me a lot. So thank you, everyone.”
Her first day on set had a bit of a rough start when she heard The White Lotus creator Mike White yell “action.” “I’m so nervous. I was sweating. I was like, ‘I can’t remember my lines.’ I blanked out,” she revealed.
But she quickly overcame the challenge. Lisa portrays an employee at a Thailand branch of the luxurious hotel chain featured in the show. Off-camera, Lisa shared a lot of her new music with her co-stars, including her hit song and music video “Rockstar,” before it was released to the public.
“We’re just sharing what we do,” she explained. “All of them are so supportive.”
Currently, Lisa doesn’t have another acting project lined up. When asked about the kind of film she would love to be part of, Lisa expressed interest in an action movie. Could she play a “badass” character on screen?
“Oh yeah,” she replied confidently. “I think so.”
