Billie Eilish celebrated her golden birthday a bit early on Tuesday night when she posted a throwback video montage of her younger years in advance of turning 18 on Wednesday (Dec. 18). The clip opens with a pint-sized Billie shoving her face into the camer announcing, “Hi, my name is Billie and I’m going to play a song that I made up with this guitar.”
It is, of course, adorable, as the guitar is almost as big at Lil Bill, but also a poignant look back at her lifelong musical collaboration with older brother Finneas, who makes several cameos along the way. Cued to her song, “8,” the montage jumps from a sea of cameras held up at one of Eilish’s sold-out arena shows, to footage of her as a toddler playing a toy piano, then graduating to banging on the keys of an upright piano as her parents chant her name and clap encouragement.
As she grows older Finneas comes into the picture, sliding onto the piano bench alongside her, playing keyboards as the pre-teen performs at what looks like a talent show and strumming a guitar at one of her recent gigs. It’s all very cute, but also a very nostalgic, sweet peek at a precociously talented teen who seemed destined to arrive where she is now. The Billboard Woman of the Year winner also received some b-day love from Prettymuch’s Zion (“I got goosebumps”), Avril Lavigne (“Ahhhhmaaaaazzzing ——–“) and Miguel, among others.
