Billie Eilish stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday (Nov. 21) to talk about her Grammy nominations, turning 18, handling fame and more.

“I mean, the Grammys is the Grammys, so it’s like…as cool as everything else is, it’s like, the Grammys. You know what I mean?” the pop star dished about her six nominations at this year’s ceremony, including album, record and song of the year and best new artist. “I’ve watched that every single year of my entire life, like judging all the girls’ ugly ass dresses…so the fact that I’m the same little girl watching that in my living room, and then I’m still in that same living room being nominated for six, like, what is that?”

After revealing that she’ll be taking her parents to the big night, host Jimmy Kimmel quizzed the superstar on her knowledge of ’80s pop culture including Madonna (“I do know who Madonna is”), Van Halen (“Who?), Run DMC (“What is that?”), Cabbage Patch Kids (“That’s like a Sour Patch Kid? Is it a candy?”) and more.

Later in the interview, Eilish also opened up about her impending 18th birthday and her surprisingly mature perspective on dealing with her superstardom. “A couple weeks ago I kind of decided to start living like I just woke up and this was my life,” she said. “In a good way. Like if I was my 12-year-old self and suddenly I woke up and this was my life, how would I look at it? And what would I be like, ‘Oh my god!’ that right now I’m taking for granted? So I’ve been trying to live like that lately.”
