Amy Harris/Invision/AP – BABYMETAL arrive at the 2016 Journeys AP Music Awards at Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on July 18, 2016, in Columbus, Ohio.
Japanese metal phenomenon Babymetal shared their new video for “Starlight” on Friday (Oct. 19) accompanied by the news that band member Yuimetal is leaving the group. On the eve of a tour in Japan, the run will mark the official beginning of the band’s journey without Yuimetal — leaving members Su-metal and Moametal to form the core.
“Yuimetal had expressed her desire to return performing with the group in the following months after last December’s performance due health concerns. During her absence, both Su-metal and Moametal as well as the entire staff team had been preparing for her awaited return,” they wrote on their website. “However, Yuimetal came to a decision that she will no longer be a part of Babymental. We thank her for all of her contributions and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
The band’s new music video “Starlight” offers a ferocious and heavy melody that explores their signature hybrid of metal riffs and infectious vocal attacks. The stark clip represents another step in the group’s expanding storyline about an unknown dark side and the legend of seven metal spirits, The Chosen Seven.
In an post-apocalyptical scene, the band’s members are seen running, dancing and screaming on a desert mountain in between flashy and kaleidoscopic visuals.
