While Ariana Grande’s newly released “thank u, next” music video shows love for all that she’s learned from her ex-boyfriends, there’s one man Grande can’t resist shading.

Grande channels her inner Elle Woods for the video’s Legally Blonde-inspired segment, brushing up on her legal knowledge as she reads a book titled Immigration and Refugee Law and Policy.

Grande’s mother Joan confirmed in a tweet that the inclusion of this book was in fact intentional, and meant to be a dig at President Donald Trump’s infamous hostility towards immigrants and refugees.

“‘Like it’s hard?’…(quote from Legally Blonde)…and yes SHE does, & no He doesn’t…know anything!” Joan wrote in reference to one of Reese Witherspoon’s lines from the movie. Joan then went on to call her daughter “a most passionate advocate for humanity,” after confirming Grande’s subtle political statement.
