Ariana Grande shared behind-the-scenes footage from the video for her hit “7 Rings” on Feb. 5, showing snippets of the days-long shoots for the lavishly pink-themed visual.
Grande and friends are seen dancing around as the braggadocious track plays in the background, and director Hannah Lux Davis (who also directed Grande’s video for “Thank U, Next”), explains that “7 Rings” is a “fun performance video.” “We’re just having a shit ton of fun,” Davis says.
Fans can also see tidbits that go into the making of a music video, including Grande’s head-achingly long and heavy ponytail that appears in one scene, and how the glass tower of “champagne” was actually full of club soda.
Grande later presents Davis with a turquoise Tiffany’s box containing the “matching ring” that the popstar also bought her six closest girl friends (serving as the inspiration behind the song). “No it’s not,” Davis says in the sweet encounter as Grande giggles: “Are we for real? Oh my God, I’m like really overwhelmed.”
