Happy … aaaaggghhh! Adele showed off pal Nicole Richie’s prankster side with a belated birthday message on Instagram Saturday (Sept. 26).
In a video clip, Richie — who turned 39 on Sept. 21 — is crouching by the oven while a male friend chats. As the “Hello” singer walks into the kitchen, Richie leaps out and yells, startling Adele and causing her to scream. The 15-time Grammy winner composes herself, then crouches over the TV personality, who is lying face down on the floor laughing. “For f–ks sake!” mutters Adele as she walks off.
“Happy belated birthday to my daily dose of grace @nicolerichie I admire you and love you so much,” the vocalist captioned the Instagram post. “You are the epitome of self preservation, self love and absolute savagery! You are so cherished by so many angel girl! Keep making us laugh babes, we adore you to the moon and back.”
The celebratory post also included a selfie of Adele laughing while Richie is indoors pressed up against a pane of glass, the two snuggling a giraffe as the singer looks terrified, the women glammed up together, and more. See the full post here.
Adele recently caused a stir when she shared a photo of herself with a Bantu knot ‘do while wearing a bikini top featuring a print of the Jamaican flag, gold hoop earings and yellow feather wings in August. The post has received 5.4 million likes so far, with Naomi Campbell, Zoe Saldana, Stefflon Don and more giving it the thumbs up. However, some commenters saw her outfit as cultural appropriation, as the hairstyle is usually associated with Black and African culture.
