Adam Lambert will appear with Ellen DeGeneres in a scene in Taylor Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down” music video, premiering Monday morning (June 17). The singer revealed that little detail in a chat with Australian radio host Smallzy on Sunday, not long after Swift rolled out a celebrity-filled lineup announcement for her new video.
“It was like a random thing,” he explained of how he got involved with Swift’s latest project. “I just got a note. I ran into Taylor at the Ellen show … She was like, ‘Hey, you wanna film a scene with Ellen?’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’ So look out for it — it’s me and Ellen.”
When asked if he could reveal anything else about the video, Lambert said: “That’s all I can tell you. I think I’ve been, like, sworn to secrecy.”
Lambert, DeGeneres, Ryan Reynolds, Laverne Cox, RuPaul, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the cast of Queer Eye, Billy Porter, Todrick Hall and Adam Rippon are among the many special guests set to appear in Swift’s new video.
Watch Lambert’s interview clip below, and tune in to the debut of “You Need to Calm Down” at 8:15 am ET Monday.
