Nirvana fans received a very special treat Saturday night (Sept. 1) when Krist Novoselic joined the Foo Fighters for a cover of The Vaselines’ “Molly’s Lips” at Safeco Field in Seattle.
“This is an old song, we haven’t done this song together in a long time,” Grohl told the audience after welcoming Novoselic to the stage. “We haven’t done this song together in a long time.”
The former Nirvana bandmates then broke into “Molly’s Lips,” which appeared on the grunge band’s 1992 album, Incesticide. Watch the clip below.
Saturday night marked the second occasion that Foo Fighters and Novoselic — whose new band Giants in the Trees opened the Seattle show — have performed the cover together, according to Rolling Stone. In 2015, they played “Molly’s Lips” during a concert in The Vaselines’ native Scotland.
