Miley Cyrus brought the party to New Year’s Eve.
The 28-year-old pop superstar helped usher in 2021 on Thursday (Dec. 31) with a pair of electric performances as part of the 49th annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2021 on ABC.
For her first rocking performance, Cyrus appropriately donned an American flag-inspired outfit while delivering her 2009 hit song “Party in the U.S.A.”
“Was my honor to perform PARTY IN THE USA opening tonight’s @NYRE after the year we’ve experienced,” Cyrus tweeted. “This song represents TRIUMPH (check the belt) looking forward to 2021 wishing everyone a happy and safe NY celebration! 2 more songs to come!”
The singer also performed a mash-up of her new hit track “Midnight Sky” and Stevie Nicks 1981 classic “Edge of Seventeen.” Cyrus is currently promoting her rock-influenced new album, Plastic Hearts, which dropped in late November.
Thursday’s New Years Rockin’ Eve special also featured performances Jennifer Lopez, Machine Gun Kelly, Cyndi Lauper, Noah Cyrus and Megan Thee Stallion, among others.
