Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP – Ariana Grande performs “No Tears Left To Cry” at the Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 20, 2018 in Las Vegas.
Ariana Grande’s Sweetener explores some deep, painful and cathartic themes, but the album has plenty of light moments too — and one of them was more or less a happy accident in the studio.
When the pop star was cutting her vocals for “everytime,” she started cracking up when super-producer and songwriter Max Martin — who produced the track and co-wrote it as well — couldn’t keep a straight face while she was singing.
Apparently, Grande could see every single one of his reactions to her improvisational skills over the woozy beat, and she started giggling at his “v funny and sweet” responses to her vocals when they were working on the track.
