Katy Perry announced the release date of her long-awaited sixth album on Wednesday (May 13), with a little help from Amazon’s Alexa.
In a clip posted to Twitter by a fan page, the digital assistant can be heard saying, “Katy asked me to let you know that her new album will be released on August 14.” (Billboard can confirm that the LP is slated for release on Aug. 14 via Capitol Records.)
Preceded by lead single “Daisies,” which is set to drop Friday (May 15), the studio set will be the pop star’s first full-length LP in over three years, serving as a follow-up to 2017’s Witness.
In the interim, the American Idol judge released a string of well-received standalone singles throughout 2019, including “Never Really Over” — which peaked at No. 15 on the Hot 100 last summer — as well as “Small Talk,” “Harleys in Hawaii” and “Never Worn White.”
