Niall Horan may have a new song coming soon, but he decided to cover Billie Eilish first — and fans are not upset about that.
The singer-songwriter shared a video on Instagram stories Sunday (Sept. 29), in which he plays piano and sings a beautiful rendition of Eilish’s “When the Party’s Over.” Though he only sings the first minute of the song, Horan’s piano cover is equally as affecting as the original, thanks to his smooth tone and effortless power notes.
A few fans were quick to share the full video on Twitter, where several commented about Horan’s Billie cover, with one calling it “the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.” Others demanded Horan release a full version, with one fan writing, “I genuinely started tearing up.”
Horan declared himself a Billie stan in early April, shortly after Eilish released her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? on March 29. “This woman does not fuck around,” he wrote in a tweet praising the LP.
Three days before sharing his Billie cover, Horan revealed that his next single is coming Oct. 4. Titled “Nice to Meet Ya,” the upbeat song (as he teased on social media) marks his first official new track since his own debut album, Flicker, in 2017.
