Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP – Mandy Moore arrives at the 24th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall on Jan. 21, 2018 in Los Angeles.
This Is Us star Mandy Moore is getting back to her artistic roots. The actress, well-known for her role as Rebecca Pearson in the hit NBC drama, has been hitting the studio to record new music.
“Getting back to it,” she wrote on Instagram Friday (July 13), captioning a clip in which she can be heard crooning the lyric “don’t underestimate.” “It’s time. I miss it. I’m not scared anymore. No more excuses. No more allowing someone’s else insecurities to dictate my relationship to music and singing. Boom. Also- this is just a little demo of something @themikeviola and I worked on yesterday… but still, it’s a start.”
As a singer, Moore hasn’t offered a full-length album in nearly a decade. Amanda Leigh, her sixth LP, was released in 2009. She first hit the music scene almost 20 years ago when her debut album, So Real (featuring the pop single “Candy”), was released.
Mike Viola, the person Moore tagged on her Instagram post, is a producer who worked with the singer on her last album. He’s also known for pairing up with Ryan Adams (Moore’s ex-husband), Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, Andrew McMahon, Jenny Lewis and more.
