On Tuesday, Meghan Trainor took to social media to share the sad news that one of her biggest fans, Jalisa, had died. The pop star announced the news alongside 20-plus photos she took with Jalisa over the years.
“I am so devastated by the news of my sweet Jalisa’s passing,” Trainor wrote. “Since the very beginning of my career I always had a beautiful familiar face at every single show, all over the world, supporting me and making me smile.”
The “Me Too” singer went on to say that Jalisa was more than a fan and that she helped build a community of friends everywhere she went (a community called Whalebox, because growing up, Trainor had a whale mailbox).
“I will never forget Jalisa and she will forever be a member of the Megatron family.”
Trainor offered her condolences to Jalisa’s family before sharing the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number: 1-800-273-8255.
“We are stronger together. We need to support and look out for each other. Please know that whatever you’re feeling, you are not alone and there are people that can help.”
