Billie Eilish brought her signature dark and sinister vibes to her performance of the skin-crawling synth-pop track, “Bury a Friend,” on the March 28 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The 17-year-old singer-songwriter appeared on a dark, smoke-filled stage, emoting the spooky lyrics by hiding behind her blueish-gray hair and — for a surprise special effects moment — summoning a large cloth that swung behind her, casting a monster-like shadow while she bent over backwards.
“Step on the glass, staple your tongue/ Bury a friend, try to wake up/ Cannibal class, killing the son/ Bury a friend, I wanna end me,” she sang, wearing a baggy black sweater and shorts with a neon green frowny face print.
Eilish’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? is out now, and might be heading to No. 1 on this week’s Billboard 200 album charts, according to industry forecasters.
