Miley Cyrus has unveiled her latest single, “Beautiful That Way,” which was created for Gia Coppola’s movie The Last Showgirl.
The release comes shortly after the song earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song – Motion Picture. It is competing against tracks from Challengers, The Wild Robot, Emilia Pérez, and Better Man.
“Beautiful That Way” was co-written by Cyrus, Lykke Li, and Andrew Wyatt, who also produced the track. Cyrus shared, “Andrew Wyatt is a longtime friend and musical genius. I trusted his instincts for the film, as he has dedicated himself to finding the sound that supports this project. Lykke Li is a fantastic songwriter and had a great concept, which made it easy for me to come in and make it my own.”
The film The Last Showgirl, which premiered in September, features Pamela Anderson as a showgirl navigating her life after her show comes to an end. Cyrus added, “Pamela is deeply connected to my earliest memories with my mother. We both adored Pam, and still do. I brought the emotion I feel toward those times with my mom and the few moments we’ve spent with Pam. I thought a lot about what this film means to her, not just as an actress, but as the special person she is. I celebrate evolution, and she’s done that in such a graceful way, which is reflected in The Last Showgirl.”
“This song is dedicated to the film and the story that Gia and Pam are telling,” she continues. “The lyrics resonate with me personally, but sonically, this song is a love letter to their project.”
