Imagine Dragon’s took to Twitter on Tuesday (Sept. 18) to share the good news that this year’s Tyler Robinson Foundation Gala raised more than $2.1 million dollars for the fight against childhood cancer.
The Tyler Robinson Foundation began with the story of its namesake, 16 year-old Tyler Robinson, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyoscarcoma. Robinson was a huge fan of Imagine Dragons and when he went to an acoustic show and the band learned of his illness they dedicated their hit “It’s Time” to him, which was fitting since his favorite lyric “The road to heaven runs through miles of clouded hell” is in that song.
The band grew close to Robinson and after he passed away they made a point to attend and perform at the gala every year, making sure to always play “It’s Time” in Robinson’s honor. The band, who made their fifth appearance at the annual event, posted a picture of themselves on the red carpet with fellow performers illusionist Criss Angel and the entire Impractical Jokers team.
