Good news first: Ed Sheeran is on track to return to Studio 8H. The singer who announced on Oct. 24 that he was in isolation due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, revealed early Tuesday morning (Nov. 2) that he’s out and ready to be about. “Posting this pic to say I’m released from covid isolation today, so if you see me out and about I’ve had the all clear and done my quarantine,” wrote Sheeran in the post accompanied by a dramatically lit shot of him singing on a soundstage.
“Excited to hit the ground running with work again, and SNL is still on, so tune in Saturday.” Sheeran is slated to join the show this Saturday (Nov. 6) as the musical guest alongside first-time host Succession snake Kieran Culkin.
This will mark the Sheeran’s third time serving as musical guest on Saturday Night Live. He first graced the Studio 8H stage in 2014, when he sang his x hits “Don’t” and “Sing.” He returned in 2017 to perform “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” from ÷.
After his positive test, Sheeran pledged to keep promoting his new album, =, with virtual interviews and performances.
In a nod to his COVID isolation, Sheeran held a “solo party” on Friday to celebrate the release of the album, telling Sheerios in advance that, “I’m obviously still in COVID isolation but please let me know what you think when it’s out. It’s the most proud (I’ve) ever been of a (piece) of work and I can’t wait for you all to hear it. Gonna be having a solo party tonight and tomorrow to celebrate, blast it loud,” he said in an Instagram story.
