Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK went from fans to friends even before their 2018 “Kiss and Make Up” collaboration.

The English singer and South Korean girl group have never needed to actually kiss and make up after a fight, because both acts have shown nothing but love to one another over the internet and onstage. After Lisa and Jennie attended Dua’s concert in Seoul in May 2018, where they met her for the first time and snapped a photo together backstage, the Dua Lipa x BLACKPINK alliance has only grown stronger.

Billboard rounded up five crucial times Dua proved how much she loves BLACKPINK.

October 2018: Their “Kiss and Make Up” Collaboration

Dua teamed up with Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa on “Kiss and Make Up” from the 2018 super deluxe issue of her eponymous debut album. The song hit the Billboard Hot 100 in November 2018 and was eventually remixed by The Blessed Madonna for the Club Future Nostalgia remix album in August 2020.

April 2019: Dua’s Response to Jennie Loving “New Rules”

During BLACKPINK’s first global interview with Apple Music, Jennie revealed how much the singer and her early smash record “New Rules” inspired her. “It was my favorite song when it came out. I think I watched the video on the day that it was released on YouTube, and I fell in love as soon as I heard it. I’m like, ‘It’s my song!'” Jennie said. When a fan tagged Dua herself in a tweet that had a video cut of Jennie’s portion of the interview, the “New Rules” singer responded. “My giiiiirl,” she wrote back in a since-deleted tweet, according to Koreaboo. “Also kill this loveeeee is myyyy boppppp right now!!!”

May 2019: Their Onstage Union

During their In Your Area world tour, the foursome united with Lipa at Newark’s Prudential Center for a performance of their hit “Kiss and Make Up.”

May 2020: Dua’s Interview About Their Friendship

Dua hopped on the Singapore radio station 987 The Shock Circuit to discuss how their collab came to be. “I love those girls. It was so much fun getting to work with them. It all happened because I met them in Seoul, when they came to my show,” she explained to hosts Sonia and Joakim. “I’d written this song called ‘Kiss and Make Up,’ and I didn’t put it out because I felt like it needed the perfect feature. After meeting the girls, I immediately sent it to them to see if they liked it. And they liked the song, and they wanted to jump on it. And I was so happy to hear that.”

She also revealed the member she’s closest to: “I’ve remained in touch with the girls, especially Jennie, who I love to pieces.”

July 2020: Dua and Jennie’s Selfie

While offering a “peek into the week” of the life of Dua Lipa, the Blinks peeped one of their favorites (and Dua’s fave): Jennie. The Future Nostalgia pop superstar’s Fourth of July holiday carousel included her and Jennie’s chic sunglasses selfie.
